I have watched Bud Shank perform in the small village I live, here in Germany, somewhere in the late 80's. The concert was arranged by a gentleman who is also gone. He was friends with many of the famous jazz players, from the days when they played for the U. S. forces in the Mannheim/ Heidelberg aria in the 50's.
I only went because I knew he played the flute on "California Dreaming". So sad he died.

He and Kimio Eto made a beautifu record. Eto was fantastic on the Koto and Bud Shank's flute complemented it perfectly. I highly recommend it.

He had a great career, but my favorite album was always "Koto and Flute".
