New Video -- Half As Much

Post by Doug Beaumier »

Hank Williams tune "Half As Much". Just posted on YouTube. Eadd9 tuning.

This video was easier than the last one. I only had to play half as much.

I just realized something that I had forgotten about! I have tablature for "Half As Much" in my "16 Songs" book. But it's not in the same tuning or key as this video. It's in A6 tuning, key of D.

Magnatone?

Post by Joe Krumel »

The more I see that mint greenish?? Color on the Magnatone, the more I'm thinking about refinishing an old bass I have. Very cool finish.

Yeah, that's a mots covering that was used a lot of lap steels back in the day. I think they called it "pearloid" back then... made from some kind of a plastic solution and they added actual fish scales to it! The covering will peel off after many years, but the green mots on my Magnatone is in excellent condition. Same with the set below, currently on reverb.com (not mine).

Wow. Too cool. I'm thinking it is beyond my ability. The fish scales puts it way beyond me!

Howdy Everyone,
I know I'm responding to an old post, but I'm new to the forum AND new to Lap Steel. My mentor, Bill McCumber from Alice, TX (most of y'all already know Bill), sent me the link to Doug's awesome cover of this old time classic. I would really like to start learning it, but I'm tuned to Open D. Does anyone have a link or site where I might purchase the sheet music (Tab) for Half As Much, in Open D tuning?
Thanks in advance....
....and I follow Doug on YouTube and am amazed every day at what he can do! Sorry, Doug, not meaning to talk about you in the 3rd person!! I just haven't formally met you yet. :D
