Nashville 1000 - humming reverb
After several years of using my Fender amps with steel, I decided to return my old Peavey Nashville 1000. It worked perfectly last time I used it, but now the reverb causes a very loud humming noise (proportional to the amount of reverb). I actually prefer my Boss RV-5 to the built-in reverb, so no biggie, but has anyone encountered the same problem? Would it be expensive to have an amp tech fix it?

It’s most probably the reverb chip in the amp or the filter caps for the reverb section

Try unplugging and cleaning the reverb connection at the amp. Those pins can oxidize and the poor contac will cause hum. I replaced the reverb pan on mine for other issues but its quiet as a mouse.

I'll try that first, and otherwise just use the RV-5... Thanks!

Most times the styrofoam type tape in the reverb tank will start to disintegrate and fall down into the springs causing a mucky mess on them most often I just replaced the tank because cleaning it is so much work more work than I would ever want to put into it
hope that helps

I had the same problem with my N112. I simplified all my wires that were running all over the place and like magic, the problem went away. I too use a different reverb but it just bugged me that it wasn't working right. Now this is me-
